Retired People
days interesting. Well, for example, the other day I went downtown into a
shop. I was on there for about 5 minutes and when I came out, there was a
cop writing out a parking ticket. I said to him, 'Come on man, how about
giving a retired person a break?
He ignored me and continued writing the ticket.
I called him a 'Nazi.'
He glared at me and wrote another ticket for having worn tires.
So I called him a 'doughnut eating Gestapo.'
He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first.
Then he wrote a third ticket.
This went on for 20 minutes. The more I abused him, the more tickets he
wrote. Personally, I didn't care. I came downtown on the bus, and the car
that he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said 'OBAMA
in '08.'
I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. It's important
to my health

U.S. says exercise by Israel seemed directed at Iran
WASHINGTON: Israel carried out a major military exercise earlier this month that American officials say appeared to be a rehearsal for a potential bombing attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.
Several American officials said the Israeli exercise appeared to be an effort to develop the military's capacity to carry out long-range strikes and to demonstrate the seriousness with which Israel views Iran's nuclear program.
More than 100 Israeli F-16 and F-15 fighters participated in the maneuvers, which were carried out over the eastern Mediterranean and over Greece during the first week of June, American officials said.
The exercise also included Israeli helicopters that could be used to rescue downed pilots. The helicopters and refueling tankers flew more than 900 miles, which is about the same distance between Israel and Iran's uranium enrichment plant at Natanz, American officials said.

Castro-Che Guevera-Marx-U.S. Dem. Congress!
House Democrats call for nationalization of refineries
Per Pergram-Capitol Hill
House Democrats responded to President's Bush's call for Congress to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. This was at an on-camera press conference fed back live.
Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply.
They also reasserted that the reason the Appropriations Committee markup (where the vote on the amendment to lift the ban) was cancelled so they could focus on preparing the supplemental Iraq spending bill for tomorrow.
At an off-camera briefing, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said the same. And a senior Republican House Appropriations Committee aide adds that "there were multiple reasons for the postponement" including discussion on the supplemental. But the aide said there was the thought that Democrats may wish to avoid a debate today on energy amendments.

philosophy. Thank goodness. Think what evil creeps liberals would be if their
plans to enfeeble the individual, exhaust the economy, impede the rule of law,
and cripple national defense were guided by a coherent ideology instead of
smug ignorance. As for our side, conservatism is a gut reaction for most of
us, and a done deal for the rest. The moral philosophy of American politics
can be explained briefly and clearly, and, the Constitution being written,
it has been. Where is there a philosopher in Washington?" ---P.J. O'Rourke
